BRENTWOOD—It's safe to say that Venice-based stylist/blogger Kate Brien has a thing for shoes. Her mega-popular blog and Instagram account View From the Topp focuses on the fashion-loving babe's impeccable coordination of ensemble and surroundings, with an aerial perspective that focuses major attention on her various foot stylings. That said, a collaboration with Brien and designer Jenni Kayne makes all the sense in the world, and that's exactly what the ladies are doing this Sunday from 12-3pm at Kayne's shop in Brentwood Country Mart (225 26th St). Guests can stop by to shop the summer collection with a 10% discount and chat up Brien for personal styling advice. Additionally, fans can enter a View From the Topp-inspired contest to win a pair of Kayne's classic mule slides by posting their own similar Instagram shots tagged #ViewFromTheToppJK on Saturday and Sunday. Brien will choose her favorite pic Sunday night and announce the winner via the social media network. Get your foot modeling game on and RSVP to kwinkelman@jennikayne.com to save your spot on Saturday.
ARTS DISTRICT—Every third weekend of the month, Artist & Fleas (647 Mateo St) brings dozens of independent designers and vintage vendors together for a shopping experience that hightlights artisanal, hand-crafted, and recycled/upcycled wares. To celebrate its first anniversary doing so, the curated market ups the ante this Saturday and Sunday from 11am-5pm with a few brand new vendors (including Juniper & Fir and Vitruvian Sculpture Studios), new food trucks, a "Cutest Pup in the (Waterless) Pool" contest, and a free tote with a chance to win a $100 Artist & Fleas shopping spree for the first 100 in attendance each day.
COSTA MESA—As California gals, we can't help but adore the whimsical and flirty vibe of Wildfox clothing and accessories. Lucikly we can get our fix with a 20% discount this Sunday at Lobby in The Lab Anti Mall (2930 Bristol St) when the brand offers a trunk show for their 2015 sunglass collection. The event, which lasts from 4-9pm is in participation with the SoBeca neighborhood's Bloom festival to celebrate art, food, and music in the area.
VENICE—Australian designers get their moment in the California sun at AUST. (1617 Abbot Kinney Blvd), a boutique that embodies the effortlessly cool attitude of fashion from down under. Street-saavy menswear line Zanerobe is among one of the shop's champions and perhaps that's at least partially due to its edgy, urban collaborations with artists like talented photographer Christoper Parsons. The camera man himself will appear at the store this Saturday from 2-6pm to close out his current photo journal show with a bang. Stop in for tasty cocktails and vinyl spinning courtesy of DJ Luke Sea.
