The best part about getting bronzed via airbrush is the fact that you can worry less about spending more time under the sun—and with that, more opps for showing off your golden glow. Enter just-launched e-shop and brand Static Swimwear, which produces budget-friendly, pool-ready pieces right here in LA.
Founded by pals Andrea Bottiani and Sibel Pistar, the shop stocks sexy swimwear from local faves like Lee + Lani, Beach Riot, Minimale Animale, and more cool labels. Rather than simply rounding up a stellar selection of cult-cool lines, Static also crafts its own range of bikinis and one-pieces ($58 to $98), currently available in wear-with-whatever black and blush. Beach babes can try the merch IRL next week, when Static pops up in Venice.
Happening at World Wide Mind's space at 1306 Abbot Kinney Blvd., the pop-up shop runs from Friday, May 8th through Monday, May 11th. The brand will be toasting its launch on Friday, and partygoers can enjoy gratis drinks and bites and of course, shop.
Below, we had a chat with co-founders to find out why they didn't just stop at opening an online shop, how LA inspires Static's vibes, and more.
What brought the two of you together in starting Static?
AB & SP: Our backgrounds are in buying and merchandising, where we cut our teeth at two well-known, high-profile brands. We met at one of them that's based in LA and while there, Andrea built out the swim category and Sibel built out the shoe category. Both were hugely successful.
How has LA influenced the aesthetic of your brand?
AB & SP: Our Static suits are designed to be easy, elevated basics with amazing fit and quality at a great price. We love the "work hard, play hard" attitude that permeates the culture in LA. This city is big on working hard but what's equally as important is having fun and getting away from it all. Usually by a pool!
Designing a brand is already a big move; what inspired you to create an e-shop, too?
AB & SP: What really inspired us to build this brand was that we didn't feel like there was anywhere for us to buy a swimsuit online or in LA. We wanted to create a customer friendly shopping environment that still had an elevated, boutique feel that was dedicated exclusively to swimwear. Whether it's heading out to Palm Springs or hitting the beach in Malibu or Venice, seems like there are more and more opportunities to throw on a suit every day!
