Bummer: DTLA's Historic Core Loses Buttons & Bows, Curio, More Shops

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Well, this just sucks. While mourning kaleidoscopic haven Flamingo Vintage's impending departure (it officially closes on Saturday), a handful of major closures at stylish Sixth and Spring somehow flew under our radar, including another essential shop.

Crowd-pleasing treasure trove Buttons & Bows quietly packed up last month and was swiftly replaced by Colombia-bred boutique Velazca, which moved in about two weeks ago. Zany shop Haus of Love and cult-cool boutique Pale Violet have also packed up their Historic Core digs, and edgy-boho store Curio is on its way out.

Curio owner Lora Myers tells us she won't be relocating her shop, and that its last day is next Thursday, April 30th. The boutique's currently unloading its entire inventory—including Grey City Shoes, Echo + Air, and more—at up to 80% off.

We suspect the puzzling parking sitch ($3 for 36 minutes at a meter or 12 minutes at a garage, seriously?) may be partly to blame for the massive exodus. Stay tuned for more.
