Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
If you are both a music fan and fitness fiend, meet Pound: a full-body cardio jam session founded by Kirsten Potenza and Cristina Peerenboom that combines light resistance with constant simulated drumming. The 45-minute workout fuses cardio, Pilates, isometric movements, plyometrics and Isometric poses that boast burning from 400 and 900 calories per hour. It's fun, it's a phenomenon, and it's now in LA.
Anyone looking to get long and lean to a killer soundtrack can go here to find a local venue that currently houses Pound classes, which cost about $10-$25 a session. Any gym can host a Pound sesh, as long as they have a Pound instructor to teach the class. (We encourage you to tell your trainers to become a Pound Pro asap.)
Need more convincing? Here's what the one and only Oprah has to say about it: "The Pound series ain’t your mama’s workout routine."
