Clare Vivier was the coolest girl in the room at last night's & Other Stories collaboration launch party at Steven Alan La Brea. Sporting a black and white striped sailor top and a leather jacket casually draped over her shoulders, the Silver Lake-based accessories designer was beaming—and that's not just because she was wearing this blindingly bright orange, custom monogrammed fanny pack from the collection ($85).
After a successful 2013 partnership, the H&M-owned line asked Vivier to return for spring 2015, which took little convincing. "The first time was such a great learning experience for me," she tells us. "You see, I'm a very local business, so everything in my own line is designed in Los Angeles. But with this, I got to see how big businesses work; I visited & Other Stories's factories in Istanbul and developed a great relationship with the HQ in Sweden. I was really happy that they asked me back."
Besides offering the perfect Paris-meets-California vibe, the range's best feature is its pricing: everything is under $200. As modeled by Vivier's pals Mamie, Grace and Louisa Gummer who were shot by renowned photographer Stephen Shore, the collection features everything from $11 nail polishes (named after Los Angeles neighborhoods) to a $19 tassel to a $195 tote bag, which is one of the designer's favorite pieces. Also a favorite? The aforementioned fanny pack. "I really adore fanny packs," she reveals. "I remember when I first fell in love with them: at my wedding in France in 2002, my very stylish sister-in-law had a beautiful red one by Longchamp. I loved it so much that she gave it to me. It was so chic and so French!"
The Clare Vivier & Other Stories collection is exclusively available for presale now at Steven Alan Nolita in New York and Steven Alan La Brea in LA, and StevenAlan.com. The collection will then launch at all & Other Stories shops and online on March 5th.
