Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Here's your chance to finally live out the prom re-do of your sock hop-obsessed daydreams, only with more booze. In a move that's quite meta, the epic party throwers behind Unique LA are flashing back to the past with their ultra meta Back to the Future-themed Fake Prom, which happens to once again fall on Valentine's Day (Saturday, February 14th).
The retro rager is taking over the hard-partying Unique Space in DTLA, which will be transformed into Hill Valley High's famous "Enchantment Under the Sea" dance. In addition to hitting up the open bar (with non-alcoholic options for the DDs), expect a non-stop soundtrack by the Flashdance DJs, photo ops at Smilebooth's 360-degree prom portraits, DIY corsage and boutonniere stations, and a live performance by "creative weirdo" Brian Morrow of Shark Pig. And yes, a DeLorean will be in the house.
Date or no date? The event will also include a Singles-Only Lounge for uncoupled partygoers in need of match-making. Get the full rundown of haps here and score your tickets for $45 (now including a "Single & Looking to Mingle" option!) right here.
