Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
The oversized bouquet, the frou-frou designer dress, the five-tier fondant cake: if all this sounds like the antithesis of your indie wedding, the bridal industry hasn't forgotten you. Soon-to-be-wed, artisanal-obsessed Angelenos will be in good company at the Lovesick Expo, which invades unexpected engagement venue Unique Space this Saturday, February 21st.
Happening from 11am to 3pm, the unconventional nuptials event promises a host of alt-minded party planners, photographers, caterers, and other vendors for your sepia-toned wedding. Exhibitors include eco-friendly jeweler Todd Reed, retro milliners Goorin Bros., SlowMo photo booths, and more. Since this ain't your average wedding expo, expect live entertainment like sci-fi burlesque by Devil's Playground, giant glowing jellyfish from Billion Jelly Bloom, stilt walkers, and more.
Into it? Tickets to the 21+ event are $15 at the door or $10 online (plus a $1.49 service fee) here.
