Like super-spendy spas, LA's stacked with just as many (if not more) sweat sanctuaries that have fitness fiends flocking to their nearest fashionable workout gear shop. Stylish yogis will be happy to know that our city's om-worthy retail therapy scene welcomes Maitri Yoga, a new activewear boutique in Culver City founded by master yogi Ellina Kim.
Landing at 1,250 square feet, the the bright and modern space stocks yoga apparel from LA-based labels like Alternative, Beyond Yoga, and LVR and Miami's OmShanti alongside mats by Manduka and more. "I was inspired to open up Maitri because there wasn't a spot in LA that offered everything yoga-related," says Kim, who currently teaches at reader-faved studios Liberation Yoga and One Down Dog. "It was either corporations like Lululemon or Athleta, or yoga studios [with] a small selection of merchandise and not much customer service."
In addition to offering a superior selection of stylish clothing and gear, the "judgement-free" space also houses massages, energy healing sessions, lectures, and workshops.
Down with it? Maitri Yoga's first free event takes place Sunday, March 8th from 10:30 to 11:30am, when attendees can participate in a 30-minute yoga mesh, followed by a workshop on DoTerra essential oils.
