When a loyal reader tipped us off that secret designer shoe warehouse Dave Berger & Sons was packing up its DTLA shop, we knew we had to head over to see what's up. We first discovered the discount footwear store six years ago, though it's been in business since the '50s at various locations in Downtown.
Sadly, the rumors are true; the store—which offered major markdowns on labels like Miu Miu, Kelsi Dagger, Jeffrey Campbell, and more—has been mostly vacated and Mr. and Mrs. Berger were on hand to oversee the move-out. They tell us that they decided to retire, and that the family has no plans to reopen the business.
