PR Stars Alyssa Baker and Jillian Chatoff Transition Stylishly From Day to Night

Welcome to Style Crush, a new biweekly feature that shines a light on LA's best-dressed rising stars.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Even if you aren't familiar with the faces of Riot Media Group's founders, Alyssa Baker and Jillian Chatoff, you've surely seen the A-list celebs—Jennifer Lopez, Kendall Jenner and Olivia Culpo among them—that sport some of their fashionable clients. The fact that these young entrepreneurs rep labels like Montce Swim and Dope isn't just because they're major hustlers (though that doesn't hurt); the girls always make sure to show up to their many business and social functions looking perfectly put together.

Jillian and Alyssa, who met in college in Indiana and randomly became roommates upon moving to LA years later, have a hectic schedule, which means their fashions must be flexible from day to night. We recently caught up with the PR babes—who also happen to be BFFs—to get the scoop on how they stay looking fly while constantly on the move.

Tell us about your outfit:

A: Typically my days are so jam-packed that whatever I throw on in the morning has to carry me from day to night. I spotted this grey knit dress on a Forever 21 run and knew it would be perfect for my on-the-go lifestyle. I gravitate toward dresses and jumpsuits because it's a one-and-done style choice that allows me to look super put-together while saving me at least 30 minutes in the morning. I'm almost always wearing a leather jacket and I love our customized #RIOTgirl ones by LA-based line Wolf & Lamb—which is run by our client and friend, Alison Reynolds. I'm carrying my beloved Valentino Rockstud purse (the first luxury item I saved up for) and Jeffrey Campbell booties.

J: My outfit perfectly defines my style—neutral chic. There is nothing better than pairing neutral solids with a staple accessory like a killer belt. I'm wearing a top from Forever 21, where the basics selection is to die for—I find myself browsing the site weekly for the next new thing! When in doubt, I always go for the one-piece outfit or recreate one myself by pairing a tight shirt with high-waisted flare pants or a skirt. My sunglasses are also Forever 21, pants from Nasty Gal, and my belt is from Wasteland.

Describe your style in three words:

J: Simple, realistic, and chic.

A: Fun, on-trend, and glam.

What LA boutique is your happy place?

J: There is always a place in my heart for Wasteland but I am currently loving KLS on Beverly Drive. The whole store is beautiful and I want to own everything in there.

A: One of my favorite hidden gems is Shopaholic Sample Sales on West 3rd. They carry amazing Australian brands that are hard to find in-person in LA.

What fashion item are you obsessed with buying right now?

J: Turtlenecks. Obsessed with turlenecks.

A: The perfect, everyday, dainty jewelry. Accessories are always something I struggle with.

What are you currently on the hunt for?

J: A comfortable, realistic nude heel I can wear from day to night.

A: A chic sneaker to replace my Stan Smiths and high-waisted jeans that don't stretch out!

Who's your style crush?

J: Gigi Hadid and Peace Love Shea.

A: The Kardashian Clan.
