The fact that OC native Lisa Deines doesn't shy away from garments with traditionally a masculine edge comes honestly; the self-proclaimed tomboy busied herself with sports—specifically soccer—during middle school and high school. Beyond that interest, Deines has also had a lifelong love affair with music and fashion, both of which she continues to be lucky enough to indulge in on a daily basis.
In addition to her current work as a stylist and personal shopper, Lisa can be found singing backup in local outfit Sweet Bump It. She even takes on a role of stylist for the rock/soul/funk band. Since we can't get enough of her modern spin on an Annie Hall vibe, we snagged Lisa as our latest style crush, and got to know more about what's on her wardrobe wish list and the classic screen queens she counts as crushes.
Tell us about your outfit:
The shirt is Karl Lagerfeld and was given to me by a client at Marni when I worked there. The bow tie is Gold Coast Goods. They make amazing neck ties, bow ties, pocket squares, and handkerchiefs. All of their pieces are handmade in California and they're completely unisex, which I love. The trench is London Fog. It was my mom's and I'm very lucky she passed it down to me. The jeans are Guess, from when Georges Marciano was still designing. They were a great score! The belt is from Target and my socks are from Muji. They make the best socks ever; I have yet to find any others that are this comfortable. The shoes are Marni, they are among my most coveted. It's so hard to find a square toe, 40's style lace-up for women! Oh! And the bag is the "Edie" from J.Crew. I have it in red, too.
Describe your style in three words:
Classic, comfortable, tomboy.
What LA boutique is your happy place?
Virgil Normal! It's a menswear shop and they have the coolest sweaters amongst books, great home goods, and knickknacks. Everything in there is unique and the owners have such a great eye for style. Plus, they throw really fun parties!
What fashion item are you obsessed with buying right now?
There are a few: silk neck scarves, bow ties and neck ties, and always, always fun socks!
What are you currently on the hunt for?
Finding great trousers is a continuous hunt for me. I'd love to find a yellow pair...and a lilac pair...
Who's your style crush?
A sort of cross between Lauren Hutton, Diane Keaton, and Audrey Hepburn.
