Working Mama Symposium at The Grove; Whole Foods Opening in DTLA

We round up the week's coolest events so you don't have to.

The Hive

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

FAIRFAX—Who run the world? Moms (we think Beyonce would agree to this lyric alteration). This Tuesday The Grove (189 The Grove Drive) is celebrating #MomBosses with group chat featuring some of the leading mamas in the biz plus some pampering goodies. "How To Work It: The Art of Being a Mom and a Businesswoman" takes place from 7-9pm and features tips from Olive & June's Sarah Gibson Tuttle, Jimmy Choo PR Director (and co-creator of The Hive) Sara Riff, actress/blogger Eva Amurri Martino, and Seedling founder/CEO Phoebe Hayman and will be moderated by fashion writer/mama extraordinaire Melissa Magsaysay. Attendees will also enjoy complimentary bubbly and bites and score a gift card courtesy of Barney's New York. RSVP to events@thegrovela.com if you want to join.

DOWNTOWN—DTLA is—finally!—getting its own Whole Foods Market (788 S Grand Avenue) this week. Celebratory events begin this Wednesday when the health-conscious grocery store chain opens with a traditional bread baking ceremony at 9am and will also include beaucoup food and beverage samples and giveaways (highlighted by a visit from local brand Cabo Chips), demos, live entertainment, and even a photobooth. You can park for free at the 8th and Grand parking structure when you stop by for festivities. This spanking new location includes an organic salad bar loaded with local greens, plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the 8 Bar Pub which will boast "boozy gelato." We're so in.
