Mar Vista Scores a Cool Indie Boutique and DIY Arts Studio

Mar Vista's shopping scene wins again. Not far from Calder Blake's boho-modern boutique is Mar Vista Art Dept., a creative studio-turned-indie boutique housing a roster of cool labels and local flea market regulars.

Landing at 2,500 square feet, the Americana-inspired shop focuses on well-crafted merch from cool lifestyle brands hailing from near and far. Expect to find clothing and accessories from Topo Designs and Iron and Resin, bags by Billy Kirk, menswear by Jungmaven, socks by Richer Poorer, coffee by Tokyo Smoke, hi-fi audio accessories by LSTN, and much more. In addition, the shop plays brick-and-mortar host to online marketplace Sondermill and stylish e-tailer Vanishing Elephant.

Rounding out the space's womenswear offerings is Artists & Fleas faves Whimsy and Row, which stocks vintage finds, jewelry, accessories, and clothing from LA's Groceries, LACAUSA, Capulet, and Raen Eyewear, among other cult-fave local labels.

On top of being an artisanal shopping paradise, the store will soon offer hands-on workshops and events—starting with its grand opening bash this Saturday, November 21st at 7pm. Partygoers will enjoy live painting, free drinks and bites, and cool company; RSVP by sending your deets over to sup@mvartdept.com.

Mar Vista Art Dept. is open Monday through Friday from 10am to 7pm and Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 8pm.
