Exclusive: American Apparel's 2015 Halloween Campaign Is a Salute to the Past

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Despite filing for bankruptcy this week, American Apparel is still going strong. Say what you will about the LA-based company, but it's hard to imagine a world without its envelope-pushing campaigns and billboards, both of which have been unapologetically in our faces for more than a decade.

In honor of AA's favorite holiday, the brand is exclusively sharing its 2015 Halloween campaign with Racked LA, offering 12 costume ideas that nod to both pop culture and their own storied past. Modeled by employees and in-house models, the campaign offers everything, from '70s disco looks to Clueless-ish schoolgirls to AA's 2003 ringer tee/running shorts/striped socks moment that we remember all too well.
