Cocktails and Cat Eyes in Marina Del Rey; LAFW Kicks Off in DTLA

We round up the week's coolest events so you don't have to.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

MARINA DEL REY—If you've ever been perched on the edge of your bathroom sink, millimeters away from the mirror while you trepidatiously try to make a flawlessly flicked-up (and symmetrical, mind you) cat eye without flinching—know that we feel your pain. And so does MakeUp Tonight, which is exactly why they offer amateurs like us tutorials on how to execute lusted-after looks like the pros. This Wednesday learn the tricks of the trade in creating the always-in-style combo of "Classic Cat Eye & Bold Lips" during a 7:30-9pm crash course at Le Cellier Wine Bar & Restaurant (417 W Washington Boulevard).  The $59 ticket price (available here) includes a brand new Girlactik Precise Liner and super-sweet swag bag in addition to the priceless tips you'll be taking home. Attendees should arrive sans makeup, and bring along their own black eye pencil, mascara, and lipstick/pencil of their desired, statement-making shade.

DOWNTOWN—With a spanking new home and the mayor's support for Fall 2015's LA Fashion Week, we've got a good feeling about the upcoming event, which kicks off this Wednesday. Beautiful Union Station (800 N Alameda Street) will serve as the space for shows by Tokyo's Yohei Ohno and Aussie Betty Tran. Those interested in attending should fill out and submit this form.
