Creative Consultant Roxanne Pedroza Can't Lose Her Texan Roots

Welcome to Style Crush, a new biweekly feature that shines a light on LA's best-dressed rising stars.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Designer and creative consultant Roxanne Pedroza tells us she lives in jeans and tees. However, after catching a glimpse of her tough, sexy style we think you'll agree that statement seems to minimize her always-on-point ensembles. This branding specialist, who has worked for brands like RVCA, Electric & Rose, and most recently Matuse, can thank her Texan roots for her penchant for turquoise, leather, and boots, but now the LA-based lady also incorporates some local love into her looks.

We recently caught up with Pedroza in DTLA's Fashion District at her favorite LA retailer, Althouse (761 S Main Street), where she scooped up coveted pieces to combine with her fave wardrobe staples. She also shared with us the pieces she's searching for, what she can't stop buying, and which celeb styles inspire her personal mood board.

Tell us about your outfit:

I am wearing probably the most comfortable bodysuit by The Nude Label. Levi’s Vintage Clothing denim & this amazing Rachel Comey sweater-knit coat, all courtesy of Althouse. Saint Laurent metal tip booties. RETROSUPERFUTURE sunglasses I got from working on a project with them which was pretty cool. An assortment of earrings from Wendy Nichol, Melissa Joy Manning, One Jewelry, & Kismet. And my favorite vintage turquoise rings, if not gifted from my pop, from his personal collection, these go on all travels.

Describe your style in three words:

Black. White. Denim.

What LA boutique is your happy place?

I love visiting Althouse in DTLA. It’s just good vibes and as soon as I walk in I want to play dress up with everything! From a merchandising perspective, I can’t help it, it’s so well curated. I actually really appreciate that and it's what really makes me excited when shopping. It’s like I want to style ten girls off the racks. I can't wait for their one year anniversary party on the 12th because they'll be offering 20% off. I’ve also been assured that there will be tacos!

What fashion item are you obsessed with buying right now?

I keep buying accessories. I haven’t been in the mood to really dedicate too much time to dressing so my stash of vintage Levi’s and tees have been in constant rotation with plenty of shoe, belt and bag options. And jewelry! It can really change up the mood and level of sophistication for the occasion

What are you currently on the hunt for?

Boots and jackets, boots and more jackets. To be specific, cowboy or western boots and statement bomber or leather jackets. I’ve actually been resorting back to old favorites for jackets like Surface to Air and Acne—they always show great consistency and I like that.

Who's your style crush?

Erin Wasson always. Mick Jagger, Alison Mosshart, 90’s Liv Tyler, and really anything by Hedi Slimane puts me in a good mood.
