Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Although we've previously explored Silver Lake's Sunset Boulevard, the stylish stretch has recently scored a host of cool shops that call for another Eastside visit. Now that cult-favorite label A.P.C. and Aussie apothecary brand Aesop joining the nabe this spring, let's take a moment to appreciate the block before officially explodes (and before parking inevitably becomes a headache).
Up ahead, find your Perfect Saturday itinerary, which includes where to shop American-made apparel alongside sleek bicycles, where to score bohemian accoutrements, where to grub on modern Chinese cuisine, and more.
Start your day at indie jewelry boutique Dream Collective, one of our favorite local shops for bohemian bling. Pick up designer Kathryn Bentley's affordable, globally-inspired bangles, gemstone necklaces, colorful enamel earrings, and more unique accessories, some of which are currently on sale.
Mollusk
Next, walk north to Mollusk Surf Shop's newest Cali location (3511 W Sunset Blvd.), where you'll find sleek surfboards and beach-ready merch for women, men, and kids. The beach-minded retailer is also unloading their inventory at slashed prices; now's a pretty good time to pick up the brand's cozy pima cotton sweaters, swimwear, and more before beach season officially returns.
Shinola
Your next stop is another new addition, Detroit-based design company Shinola (3515 W Sunset Blvd). The brand's first West Coast flagship offers its U.S.-made luxe watches, vintage-inspired bicycles, leather goods, minimalist stationery, and clothing collabs with Steven Alan and other cool labels.
Pine and Crane
Finally, end your retail therapy journey at foodie-faved eatery Pine and Crane (1521 Griffith Park Blvd.), a modern Taiwanese-Chinese cuisine without the MSG. The resto's "seasonally-minded" menu offers handmade noodles, rice bowls (including vegetarian options), and delish tea, and dishes are made with ingredients handpicked from the founders's family farm.
