Although DTLA certainly has its share of boutique sweat studios, the neighborhood could use a few more one-stop gyms. Those looking for something a little less pricey than Equinox on Flower or less elaborate than the LA Athletic Club on West Seventh can look forward to a new Planet Fitness, which is set to reside inside the blue American Mart building at 438 South Hill Street, next door to Perch.
In addition to promoting a "no gymtimidation" experience, Planet Fitness is super-affordable, with memberships starting just $10/month. The website adds that "you get to work out in a comfortable Judgement Free Zone®. Every member gets to take part in Pizza Mondays and Bagel Tuesdays." That last part is kind of counter-productive, but we'll take it.
