Designer-Filled Shop Lula Mae Brings Cali-Luxe Vibes to Venice

Freecity isn't the only new addition to Abbot Kinney's shopping scene. Right next door to the brightly-colored basics brand's beachside digs is designer-happy boutique Lula Mae, which quietly opened off the buzzing retail stretch last month. Not to be confused with Pasadena's charming stationery and gift shop of the same name, it's the first West Coast outpost for the Florida-based shop.

Originally founded in Jacksonville Beach by stylist Emily Coleman, the shop made its way to LA when Coleman partnered up with local designer and retail vet Nicole Papadopoulos, who's owned shops in Beverly Hills, Manhattan Beach, and Hermosa Beach. The approximately 500-square-foot women's store boasts offers merch from cult-fave labels hailing from LA and beyond. Expect to find Cali-luxe clothing from LA's Bella Luxx, Pam & Gela, LnA, Haute Hippie, and more alongside other high-end brands like Elizabeth and James, Amanda Upritchard, Parker, and others.

Also on the racks is whimsical footwear from new Angeleno/blogstar-turned-Lucky cover star Chiara Ferragni, accoutrements by Luv Aj, underpinnings by Cosabella, organic body products by Kai, and more.

To toast its first-ever LA outpost, the shop is hooking up with Elle magazine and Siwy Denim for a grand opening party on Friday, March 6th. It's happening from 5 to 8pm and involves gratis drinks, food, and swag.

Lula Mae is open daily from 11am to 7pm.
