Welcome to Racked LA's search for our city's Hottest Trainer 2014. Over the last few days, we've been profiling our sixteen smoking locals—fitness experts who not only look hot in spandex, but can make you look amazing, too. Once you've gotten to know everyone, this week we'll host a March Madness-style showdown in which readers vote for their favorites. Let the games begin!

Although Lamar Gordon could have been a model with that million-dollar smile, the money-savvy local went in a completely different direction when he joined the Army as an accountant a few years ago. Given that he's a former teen bodybuilder and football phenom, it didn't take long for the military force to realize that they had a fitness star on their hands. "The Army saw how much time I was constantly putting in at the gym and how I helped out fellow soldiers with their weight training," Gordon explains. "So, they asked if I would train the new cadets. That's where I caught the bug and decided to train for a living." He's been coaching for six years now, most recently at LA's David Barton Gym.
If you're looking to see Gordon's biceps in action, there are two David Barton Gym classes that you're guaranteed to catch him at: Shredded and Melt. "Shredded is a 45-minute, high-intensity interval workout where we use jump ropes, body weight train and more," he notes. "Melt is an hour long, high-impact, circuit training class meant to burn as many calories as possible in a short amount of time. My favorite is Shredded because of the jump ropes—it's just more fun!"
In addition to blasting kickass workout jams like "Draft Day" by Drake, Gordon also keeps his students pumped with motivational quotes like "Fitness isn't a half-assed effort" and "Be consistent or don't do it all." After a long day of body-sculpting, this trainer isn't afraid to admit that he enjoys a little manscaping: "I think my legs look better shaved—it gives my calves more shine!"
