Welcome to Racked LA's search for our city's Hottest Trainer 2014. Over the coming weeks, we'll profile sixteen smoking locals—fitness experts who not only look hot in spandex, but can make you look amazing, too. Once you've gotten to know everyone, we'll host a March Madness-style showdown in which readers vote for their favorites. Let the games begin!

When Keith Johnson needs an extra boost of motivation to work out, he doesn't guzzle down an energy drink or blast music—he simply looks at a photo of his seven-year-old daughter on his phone screen. "It helps me remember why I'm striving to live a healthy, prosperous life." Previously interested in becoming a corrections officer or emergency medical technician, the genetically-blessed stud took a leap to teach Jillian Michaels BodyShred classes at Crunch Sunset, where he uses a combo of technique and talk to keep clients as driven as he is. "This fitness thing doesn't come easy," he explains. "Stop wishing and start working. There are no shortcuts, there are no secrets, and it doesn't happen in 30 days. Be willing to make a commitment to yourself and make a lifestyle change. Can you handle that?"

While his pride and joy certainly has him wrapped around her finger when he's off the clock, Johnson admits that he's all business at the gym, which is necessary for the crazy-challenging workout he leads. "BodyShred is the most intense 30-minute workout you could imagine," he says. "It features the best progressions/modifications over any other class setting workout. It applies factual science with a lot of thought put behind the programming." In other words, if you take Johnson's class, you better be ready to WORK.

After revealing the key to his effective training style ("A good trainer can find balance depending on the client's personality"), Johnson totally threw us a curveball with this gem: "I once consumed a little over 28 slices of pizza in 30 minutes." Coolest dad ever.
