Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Turns out, Uncle Sam frowns upon our use of the flag as fashion (oops)—making cool compendiums like A Continuous Lean a godsend to law-abiding Americans seeking to buy their patriotism without (apparently) offending Old Glory. If all this stars-and-stripes spirit has you feeling particularly spendy, allow us to direct your virtual wallet to LA-based MiA Project's recently-launched online shop.
Founded by designer/fashion stylist Jaime Lawson and marketing maven Micha Thomas, the MiA Project first popped up on our radar last fall when it held court at made-in-America marketplace Shelter Half. Expect to find U.S.-made apparel, accessories, home goods, apothecary items and more from an array of stylish Stateside brands, including Cali's own THVM (denim), Norman Russell (selvedge denim and menswear), Summer Bummer (accessories), Earth Tu Face (organic beauty and skincare), Loud Love Jewelry and many more. Now go make Lady Liberty proud.
