Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
This week is dedicated to things that make our lives easier. In addition to our city's insane sale roster and Classpass' genius workout reservation service, we can now reap the benefits of Postmates—an on-demand delivery app for iOS and Android that sends you takeout, groceries and even looks from local boutiques at the click of a button.
Posing itself as "the Uber and Lyft for stuff," Postmates allows users to digitally peruse thousands of eateries and boutiques and order any item that can be delivered within the hour (or close to it). Once processed, users can watch their "Postmate" (either a driver or bike messenger) moving on the map to track their order status in real time. Deliveries start at just $5 and all transactions are made within the app, including the tip. Until they expand to other 'hoods (which they'll be doing very soon) the service is currently available for spots in Venice, Culver City, Beverly Hills, Westwood and West Hollywood.
Participating shops run the gamut, from department stores (Barneys New York) to trendy landmarks (Kitson) to luxury icons (Chanel) to cult-favorites (Rag & Bone). Wanna give Postmates a test drive? Download it here and here and enter promo code "RACKED15" to receive a $15 delivery credit on your first order! Only valid for the month of June.
