Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

HD Buttercup is already a interiors inspo haven at furniture-filled design districts in LA and SF (Helms Bakery in Culver City and SoMa, respectively), both of which seem like worlds away for Orange County retro and modern decor mavens. The essential home mini-chain is joining Costa Mesa's buzzing culinary and design mecca South Coast Collection, where they'll opening a massive 40,000-square-foot showroom in early October. They're taking over the space formerly occupied by TPT Home, which is relocating to a smaller spot at the shopping hub.

Retail center developer Burnham-Ward Properties tells us the store's interiors will be dreamed up by Otto Design Group, known for creating spaces for Urban Outffiters and its sister brands, Free People and Anthropologie. In addition to offering furniture, art, bedding, textiles, decor and outdoor items, the store will boast "small cottage-style rooms, reminiscent of Biba style of the late-1960s and '70s," plus a revolving lineup of designer showrooms and shop-in-shop experiences from brands like Calvin Klein Couture, Ralph Lauren Home and more.

Stoked? We hear HD Buttercup's half-yearly sale is also expected to kick off any minute, so plan a visit to their Helms District location very, very soon.
