Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Today marks the opening of Austere: a 5,000-square-foot concept space and showroom located at 912 South Hill Street in Downtown LA. Just around the corner from Broadway's triple A's—Ace, Acne and Aesop—the massive shop is a shoppable salute to Scandinavian design stars.

Backed by Acne Creative and The Guild LA, Austere's inspiring roster includes items from cool European talents including Alexander Lervik, Teenage Engineering, Stockholm Design Lab, Altewaisome, White Briefs and more. We hear that they'll be hosting "more academic programming as the space matures," too, boasting workshops, screenings, lectures and culinary events. Watch a sweet promo for the space here and take a peek inside below.

Austere is open Monday through Saturday from 11am to 7pm and Sunday from 11am to 5pm.
