Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.
Marcia Maizel-Clarke is the founder behind cult-favorite jewelry brand Dogeared. The Malibu resident and mom of two got her start selling her unique creations at the Rose Bowl Flea Market back in the day. Fast forward to now, her precious jewels are a go-to among tastemakers like Scarlett Johansson, Selena Gomez and Kristen Bell. Her designs, though, are more than just body adornments. Each handcrafted piece delivers a meaningful message filled with positive vibes. Think good luck, infinite love, success, happiness and much more. On her downtime, the SoCal-loving lady heads to the Malibu Market & Design to score beach-ready furnishings.
I just bought some French oak flooring for a new studio there. I am obsessed with it. It's the indoor/outdoor space that I am always inspired in. There are many levels to the space so it's wonderful to wander—it's big! They do interior design and construction, too. The vibe is super cool and hip and the edit is interesting—simple shapes in home with a big pop of texture.
