Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Don't call Côte a nail salon. Brentwood's latest beauty destination is much more than a mani/pedi stop; it's also a shop, offering a 109-piece collection of "five-free" polishes (aka free of formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, toluene, camphor and formaldehyde resin), home and body goods, locally-designed fashion accessories, and top-notch nail services. Although the space opens next Monday, March 31, we've scored a sneak peek inside just for you.
Founders Mary Lennon and Leah Yari explain that the shop's vibe is a mix of "California beach lifestyle with a hint of Southern France." There are five indoor stations and six outdoor stations, all LA-made and all offering four safe treatments: Luxe ($35 manicure/$45 pedicure), Classic ($20 manicure/$26 pedicure), Petit for kids ($12 manicure/$16 pedicure) and a Hot Stone Foot Massage ($45 for 30 minutes). Bonus: each station includes an iPad for "a smudge-free entertainment experience."
Like what you see? Check out their $16 nail polishes here and learn more about their harm-free nail services here.
Côte Brentwood will be open Monday through Saturday from 8am to 8pm, and Sunday from 10am to 6pm.
