Spring at Satine Equals Neon, Lace and Luxe Grunge

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

If we somehow won the lottery today, Satine would most definitely be one of the shops we'd hit to blow some cash. The West 3rd Street boutique founded by Jeannie Lee is oozing with one-of-a-kind style, offering an expert blend of both super indie and ultra high-fashion designers. Given that the boutique's diehard fanbase includes style-setters like Nicole Richie, we couldn't resist stopping by for the fourth installment of our Spring Forward series.

To help us zero-in on the season's coolest trends, here Satine's assistant buyer Fern Boonyanit brilliantly pairs three must-try vibes with a handful of in-store items.

Luxe Grunge: "Remember Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains? Grunge has reemerged, but with luxe sophistication. From Rodarte to Isabel Marant to Acne, leather and plaids made a chic comeback this season. Perfect for the LA girl who is elegantly rough around the edges."

Neon: "Highlight your spring look with exotic bright colors and prints. We love the multicolor motifs from Nina Ricci and Preen or a bold staple piece such as the quilted fuchsia jacket by Isabel Marant to add a punch to your wardrobe."

Lace: "Lace has always been a go-to for a feminine and flirty look. For Spring, Nina Ricci, Alessandra Rich and Sonia Rykiel delivered au courant versions of this timeless style with unexpected lace accents."
