Back in January, we revealed that French Vinotherapie skincare line Caudalie was planning to make a home on Venice's busiest shopping stretch, Abbot Kinney. The brand's 1,000-square-foot West Coast flagship finally opened yesterday and in addition to being filled with all the anti-aging, grape-derived products we know and love, it also features a full-service spa for facials, massages and even mani/pedis.
After exploring the cottage-like space, Caudalie co-founder Mathilde Thomas revealed to us just how smitten she and husband Bertrand are with the beachy neighborhood.
Why Abbot Kinney?
"We had been looking for a location for our West Coast flagship for a while. Once we started looking in Venice, we fell in love. Abbot Kinney specifically was a street where we knew we wanted to be. The boutique is a place where consumers can come and be completely immersed in the brand story."
What about Venice felt right for Caudalie?
"We immediately felt a connection with Venice. On a personal level, Bertrand and I are beginner surfers, so of course we love the beach. But more so we know the locals are interested in living a healthy lifestyle, so we felt like we would fit right in."
Will there be more boutique openings on the West Coast?
"We are always looking for other locations, so we'll see!"
What are some of the firsts that we can expect at this location?
"There are so many interesting things that will be happening at the boutique. It's the first time we will have a space where we can offer our exclusive spa treatments. We will also have exclusive items—Les Introuvables—that are only sold in our boutiques, and we will have fun events throughout the year where shoppers can really get involved with the brand. We are so excited!"
Caudalie Abbot Kinney is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11am to 7pm. Closed Mondays.
