Could it be? It's been a few years since Trader Joe's dissed Downtown LA, noting that a store there "wasn't in their company's 3-year expansion plan." Perhaps those rich Arts Districts folks did some wrangling, because rumor has it that a TJ DTLA could be in the works.
Downtown blogger Brigham Yen reports that despite a pushback from the popular grocery chain, "reliable sources" confirm that they're "actively looking for a suitable location [...] Eventually it could end up in an existing retail space (with loading capacity) or as part of a new ground-up mixed-use development (like Whole Foods) with a build-to-suit opportunity."
While we impatiently wait for the when and where, let's enjoy the fact that a brand-new Whole Foods is set to hit the bustling neighborhood next year.
