Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
In an effort to encourage locals to embrace LA's new plastic bag ban, Mayor Eric Garcetti is taping into our creative sides. Last Friday, he and Councilmember Paul Koretz launched a contest to produce "the most interesting reusable tote bag in America," which will be distributed across the city.
If you have the skills, submit your design here by uploading a 1150px height by 800px width single-color PNG file with a transparent background. Make sure to leave at least a 150 pixel margin from the top of the canvas to the start of the image, and to include your contact information in your submission. No deadline noted as of now, but we'll let you know if that changes.
Check out the current submissions here (this design by Johnny Erentreich and the above work by Jimmy Gow are already fan favorites) and cast your vote.
