This past Monday, we broke the news that Uniqlo's first SoCal store would possibly land at South Coast Plaza. News spread fast, and the story got picked up by both WWD and OC Business Journal. It didn't take long for the popular Japanese retailer to catch onto our intense speculation, leaving them no choice but to confirm today that yes, they are indeed coming to SCP! But that's not all.
"We are very excited to be opening at South Coast Plaza this fall and thrilled to introduce our brand to yet another group of future fans at this iconic retail destination," Uniqlo USA CEO Larry Meyer revealed in an official press release. In addition to carrying casual and affordable basics for men, women and kids, the new store will host Uniqlo's Supima cotton line, denim and UT t-shirt collection.
Also opening in the fall is LA's very first Uniqlo, which will be located at the Taubman Centers-owned Beverly Center. We're hoping the store takes over shuttered Grand Lux Cafe's prime ground floor space at the corner of La Cienaga and West 3rd—that is, if Eataly doesn't nab it first. More to come!
