By this time next year, fast fashion-happy shopping hub Fig at 7th will have some major competition. Remember Downtown's fortress-like Macy's Plaza, now known as The Bloc? It's slated to debut its $160 million facelift in October 2015—and we finally have some vital updates on the DTLA destination's new directory.
In addition to giving the 250,000-square-foot Macy's a major makeover (it's also scoring "refreshed" and "enhanced" cosmetics, home goods, and textiles departments), the buzzy mixed-use development will include SF-based men's fave Wingtip, a "one-stop shop for the modern gentleman" that'll offer apparel, footwear, and luxe leather goods alongside fly fishing gear, barware, and rare single malt scotches. Landing at 10,000 square feet, the man cave-like store will also feature a 12,000-square-foot club that'll house a private bar and event space, complete with 180-degree views of Downtown.
Below, see more renderings of the open-air space, which is also slated to include a beer-pouring, anti-cell-phone movie theatre.
That's not all: the founders of Apolis and Alchemy Works are also bringing a 10,000-square-foot "retail gallery concept" to The Bloc. It's being dreamed up in partnership with LA-based creative agencies CNTRLgroup and Otto Design Group and will offer "fashion, home, lifestyle, active, and tech offerings from a variety of brand partners," CNTRL tells us.
The Bloc also reveals on Instagram that cool bookstore & Pens is also setting up shop at the retail and resto center. Excited yet?
