Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Although Echo Park and Silver Lake certainly have their share of buzzy boutiques, restaurants, and novelty stores, these hipster-heavy havens have never had a place for proud geeks, gamers, and toy collectors to convene—until now. Opening tomorrow, Saturday, December 6th is Alternate Universe, a new shop founded by true believer Chris Cortez.

Eastsider LA notes that the Silver Lake-based marketing consultant has created a one-stop shop that features "shelves stocked with Transformers and Hot Wheels as well as popular board and card games, such as Magic: The Gathering." Cortez also wants this to be a place where gamers meet up. Dungeons & Dragons, anyone?
