Now that the West Coast has wooed East Coasters like edgy-cool label Oak and fearless designer Hyden Yoo, it's safe to say that brands with big plans are making their next buzzy move in LA. Enter New York-based streetwear store Reed Space, which recently set up shop inside Cali lifestyle retailer PacSun at the Glendale Galleria.
"I wanted to work with a retailer that I respected [and] change the definition of what mall retail means," explains Reed Space founder Jeff Staple in a vid about the brick-and-mortar collab. "PacSun was really changing [...] what young people were expecting to see when they walked into the mall." Open as of late November, the shop-in-shop mirrors Reed Space's original minimalist outpost in the Lower East Side, with painted white chairs repurposed as shelving and sleek wood flooring. As far as merch, expect to find a host of men's clothing and accessories brands like Benny Gold, Deadline, and Dispatch, plus a selection of cult-cool street mags. The NY retailer hopes to open over a dozen more shop-in-shops across the US by next fall.
