We're guessing that your holiday party calendar is already ridiculously booked, so to help you get dressed we've teamed up with some of our favorite local bloggers to put a seasonal spin on our Dress Code series.
The second installment of our holiday-driven Dress Code stars our girl, Christa Jayne. The stylist and Fashion or Famine blogger extraordinaire first stole our hearts back in 2013, when she revealed that her unique style icons were Vogue Australia editor Christine Centenera, electro-dance duo Daft Punk and 1976-era Fleetwood Mac.
Jayne's passion for vintage is what inspired us to invite her on a field trip to Nasty Gal's debut boutique on Melrose, which features a cool blend of modern looks mixed with rare retro gems. Here, the blonde babe styles and models three unexpected holiday party looks that go against the grain.
What: Finders Keepers blouse ($138) and shorts ( $110).
Why: From the bed to the bar, this chic pajama pairing makes us feel right at home. It was the first look at that Christa beelined to, proving that the stylist errs on the side of simplicity whenever possible. (Our kind of girl.) This pairing also proves that heels make everything dressier.
What: Nasty Gal cape dress ($88), vintage clutch ($396), and Shoe Cult heels ($78).
Why: It's a bird! It's a plane! It's the cape dress of our dreams. Given that it's sold out online and has been flying off the shelves in-store, this is one of NG's bestsellers—and for good reason. These sky-high statement heels from the retailer's Shoe Cult line are the perfect touch.
What: Vintage Balenciaga bomber jacket ($1,425), Nasty Gal cutout culottes ($88), and Keepsake crop top ($128).
Why: Christa stumbled upon the holy grail of vintage with this Balenciaga bomber. To let this find shine, she kept the rest of her look simple with a clean crop top and relaxed culottes.
