Silver Lake salon The Hive is all about listening to the people. Riding high on the buzz of its LA Weekly Reader's Choice award for best beauty spot, the Eastside hair haunt has opened a second location in Highland Park, not far from one of our favorite indie shopping stretches on York Boulevard.
"We had a lot of existing clients that live or work in Highland Park [and] we love the opportunity to be a part of a growing community," co-owner Charles Renn, who runs the salon with his sister, Lissa, tells us. Located just a few doors away from retro soda shop Galco's Old World Grocery, the 1,000-square-foot space offers the same wallet-friendly services for as its clean and cool sister salon. Expect men's clips starting at $20, children's chops starting at $25, women's cuts for $45 to $55 and up, one-process color at $65 and up, and highlights for $100 and up, plus a curated selection of hair and beauty products, home goods, and accessories from local designers.
The Hive in Highland Park is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11am To 7pm.
