Why Goop Brentwood is LA's Best Pop-Up Shop of 2014

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

On October 16, our fourth annual Racked Awards gala celebration is taking place in NYC, where we'll toast our country's best and brightest retail stars. Instead of unveiling LA's winners on the day of the party like last year, this time around we'll announce one winner daily for the next ten days leading up the party.

Just like denim shops and juice bars, Gwyneth Paltrow is quintessentially LA. Back in May, the Malibu-based starlet, author and fitness fiend brought her digital lifestyle guide Goop to the real world via a six-day pop-up at the Brentwood Country Mart. Naturally, superfans raced to the shop to see what it takes to accurately Goop-ify their lives.

Filled with all of Gwyn P's favorite things, the flawlessly-decorated space featured a range of refined home goods, natural beauty products, dainty jewelry, timeless clothing, footwear, handbags and New Age self-help books. Local love included exclusive pouches by Clare Vivier, delicate jewelry by Jennifer Meyer, skincare essentials by Beautycounter, luxe basics by Kain Label and pillows by artist Peter Dunham.

While Goop's IRL debut could have easily went the ultra-crunchy route given its location, the inspiring decor and thoughtfully-curated inventory offered an uncontrived beach vibe that instantly made us want to revamp our own abodes. Relive the pop-up here and cross your fingers that Gwynnie opens a permanent LA store soon.
