Why Acne Studios is LA's Most Instagrammed Store of 2014

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

On October 16, our fourth annual Racked Awards gala celebration is taking place in NYC, where we'll toast our country's best and brightest retail stars. Instead of unveiling LA's winners on the day of the party like last year, this time around we'll announce one winner daily for the next ten days leading up the party.

Last December, cult-favorite Swedish label Acne Studios opened its largest store in the world in DTLA's historic Eastern Columbia Building. In addition to a well-stacked inventory and futuristic decor, the 5,000-square-foot flagship also features a stylish coffee bar called Il Caffè, making it a prime location for Instagram-worthy moments.

As demonstrated by Julie Sarinana of Sincerely Jules, Courtney Trop of Always Judging (see another example here) and Rumi Neely of Fashiontoast, the best way to capture your Acne experience is via an aerial shot of the retailer's signature pink bag paired with your purchases. Throw in a decadent pastry from the cafe if you're feeling frisky. Shall we hashtag this setup #AcneFromAbove?
