On October 16, our fourth annual Racked Awards gala celebration is taking place in NYC, where we'll toast our country's best and brightest retail stars. Instead of unveiling LA's winners on the day of the party like last year, this time around we'll announce one winner daily for the next ten days leading up the party.
Up until Uniqlo popped up at South Coast Plaza in July, SoCal fans of the Japanese retailer had to trek north or click over to score its colorful and affordable basics. We've been feverishly following the global fast fashion chain's very cautious plans to invade our city, but it wasn't until this year that Uniqlo finally confirmed its foray into LA—just days after we broke the news. (Insiders were just one year off their predictions.)
The hype continued with news that Uniqlo was headed to the Beverly Center, Glendale, Northridge, Costa Mesa, and Cerritos (just as we suspected), followed by teasers in the form of three pop-up shops. Finally, on September 9th, the brand officially debuted its first SoCal store in Orange County, followed by its first three LA stores at Glendale Galleria, Northridge Fashion Center, and the Beverly Center.
