Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

In case you missed our feverish coverage on the subject, Ace Hotel is opening inside DTLA's legendary United Artists Theatre this month. The public unveiling got bumped to January 6th, which means that South Broadway will be swarming next Monday as locals, travel junkies, design snobs, art fiends, foodies and fashion folks flock to the boutique hotel's seventh property. But why do we care?

Besides offering even more eye candy to a revitalized street that also includes Acne at the Eastern Columbia and Urban Outfitters at the Rialto, Ace Hotel is a style-minded chain that has a history of supporting the fashion world across all locations. (Ace New York is home to the Rodarte sale and past FNO events, and Ace Palm Springs is an insider go-to during Coachella.) In fact, Ace hosted Acne LA's private after-party just a few weeks ago, so they're already off to a fashionable start.

Ace Hotel DTLA will offer something to design and music fiends, too. TOMS fave Commune Design is tricking out the lobby (take a peek here), Versace collaborators Haas Brothers are working on a "larger-than-life mural," and experimental British rock group Spiritualized is set to perform there on Valentine's Day.

Speaking of performances, is the Ace planning to give LA fashion week a much-needed boost by hosting some cool parties or presentations? We'll have to wait and see.
