Luxe Flair Lashes owner and lash expert Linda Luu was born and raised in LA's Echo Park, visiting her mother's salon on the weekends. By the time she was 18, Luu was hitting up beauty trade shows and having her own lash perms done. At one of the shows, she met someone from a lash company who had Luu pick up the tweezers and lashes, that is when Luu realized she was a natural. A few years later, she rented the upstairs of a spa in Pasadena and started her own business, specializing in lash extensions.
Luu started Luxe Flair Lashes in 2004 and moved to her Brentwood location five years ago. Focusing on lash extensions that grow out with your lashes without damaging them, she uses a stable glue rather than the strongest glue on the market. "You need someone who keeps your eyelashes healthy," she explained. "[Otherwise] you go from being super glamorous to a bald eagle!" While clients and Luu will decide together in a consultation what lash look is right for them, she is known for her "strip look" synthetic mink lashes that make mascara and eyeliner obsolete.
The eyelash queen is developing a tool (patent pending) that will highlight precision and simplify beauty regimens and sees a great deal of business from loyal clients and their referrals. The initial application of the lashes can take anywhere from 60-90 minutes and lasts for approximately four to six weeks with no spot refills needed. "So much of what we do is to make women feel good and start their weeks on Monday," she told us. "With lashes, you see that your eyes are always brighter."
We grabbed juices to-go and met the eyelash specialist at her cute, private studio in the Brentwood Village. While we chatted all things lashes, we also found out about her eclectic home décor, relationship with flannels and that, of course, she loves Beyoncé too.
