Angelenos are pretty passionate when it comes to basketball. As in they'll double-deck their cars with little fabric flags and shark fins, or drive giant pimped-out grapemobiles around town, or become unofficial spokespeople for their beloved team, or maybe even take to the streets with flammable objects when their team wins. If you fall anywhere within this sports superfan spectrum, you might've noticed a new pair of kicks on the courts, courtesy of soon-to-launch LA label BrandBlack.
Inspired by LA's "boundary-breaking aerospace industry [and its] status as a sports innovator, entertainment capital and fashion center," the stylish range includes retro joggers, leather sneakers and pro b-ball shoes that have swiftly gained fans in the sports world. The brains behind the new footwear label is superstar shoe designer David Raysse—as it happens, he's also the son of cult fave brand Kenzo's founders—who's done stints at sportswear stalwarts like Fila, Adidas and Skechers and once worked under interior design legend Phillip Starck.
Priced from $100 to $140, the line is set to drop in stores February 14th, aka NBA All-Star Weekend (aka Valentine's Day). Stay tuned on their site here for stockist deets and more.
