To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. A true fashion vet, John Eshaya held a stint as VP, Creative Director and Buyer for Fred Segal before launching his own t-shirt and denim line JET. From sweatshirt-denim-jacket hybrids to celeb-favored skinny jeans, the line is chock-full of rad street style wares that all the cool kids are rocking. To keep worldwide denim lovers on their toes, the LA-based talent made big moves with his label by way of an international debut in Japan earlier this year. Always in the know of what's hot and what's next, Eshaya is no stranger to the pop-up shop experience. Here, he shares where he goes in Downtown LA to find a little bit of everything.
Alpha's pop-up shop in DTLA, open now through September, has the best stuff anywhere. Guys stuff, gift stuff and some girls from Kate Moss coloring books to swim trunks, to great books and candles. They also have Virtue bikes, Sperry Topsiders, vintage sculptures, soap dishes—basically everything you need in your life! This is definitely my favorite hidden gem.
