The Hermès Beverly Hills Sale is a Glorious Madhouse

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Earlier this month, we broke the news that Hermès was set to host a major three-day sale starting August 22nd. This fabled event kicked off yesterday and, from our experience there, it just might go down in history as one of the French luxury brand's most well-stocked sales, ever.

We stopped by to check out the scene and encountered a slew of Hermès loyalists that started queuing as early as 7am. Once inside, we discovered that the 50% off sale not only includes an ample supply of ready-to-wear, shoes, hats and gloves, but the generous mix also features silk scarves, ties, jewelry, small leather goods and—yes!—handbags. There's a little bit of everything here (enamel bracelets, anyone?), which is why pandemonium both inside and outside the Rodeo boutique remained strong throughout the entire day.

Although you won't be leaving with any orange shopping bags (sale items are packaged in white, blank bags), we'd say that the sale is definitely worth stopping by, especially if you're a serious Hermès collector. Plan a visit today through Saturday from 10am to 6pm; let us know in the comments what you scoop up.
