Where LA Writer Sarah St. Lifer Gets Riot Grrrl Hair in WeHo

Los Angeles has more stores than anyone could physically tackle, but somehow we always keep returning to the usual suspects. To break out of the rut, we've asked some local shopping and fashion gurus to provide their hidden retail gems—those unique stores around LA that we might not all know about. Cue the Beatles: We're about to get a little help from our friends.

Always on top of what's up in the fashion world, LA-based writer Sarah St. Lifer's work can be seen in notable publications including V Magazine, Los Angeles Times, Angeleno, The ZOE Report and The Beauty Department. As of late, the stylish scribe has been reporting on LA's free-spirited innovators for the online magazine The Cult Collective. We also hear she's quite the foodie and when she's not busy penning her next story you can find her managing her boyfriend's restaurant Night + Market. We already knew she had great taste in shoes so we couldn't help but ask her to share another favorite. Here, she sings praises about her brilliant hair colorist and tells us where to go to book an appointment with the bi-coastal talent when she's in town.

Everyone who knows me is aware that I'm not one to spend too much time on my appearance. If I'm going out, I'll throw on some mascara and iron my dress. Thankfully, hair colorist Aura Friedman visits LA's Sally Hershberger on the regular (she's based in NYC). The former Riot Grrrl often wears heels and lingerie-looking dresses while doing hair, and she's always kind enough to squeeze me in between appointments with Hollywood clients. The way she mixes dyes is an art form, and I always leave her chair feeling like the best version of me...even if my shirt is unbelievably wrinkled.
