Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Thanks to online consignment and resale sites like Threadflip and MaterialWrld, plus LA's own Closet Rich and Shop Hers, cleaning out your closet (and commanding top dollar for castoffs) has never been easier. But if the thought of scrubbing down the rest of your abode is enough to make you break a sweat, it could be a sign your space is in need of some TLC (tender loving cleaning). Enter Handybook, an online service booking site that recently expanded its offerings to LA.
From eco-friendly house cleaning, IKEA furniture assembling to toilet unclogging and everything in between, the website allows users to get pro help in just a few clicks by entering their ZIP code, picking a service and choosing the best day and time for the job. We gave the booking process a test run using a DTLA addy and found next day two-bedroom cleaning costs about $100, while bathroom fixes are around $200.
Need a helping hand around the house? Click over to Handybook and sched an appointment here.
