Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
As you know, #Limsanity is in full swing (T minus 32 days, people!). Last night, we found ourselves face to face with the 3.1 Phillip Lim x Target goods at the line's photo shoot in Santa Monica, and let's just say we were not disappointed. Scroll through the gallery for a sneak peek of the merch. (Mini Pashli bags! Comic book sweaters! Menswear!)
The mass retailer unveiled just a few of the designer collab pieces (sadly, ladies' shoes did not make an appearance) at the beachside snap sesh, which included sparklers, a fire pit and—here's where it gets interesting—a handful of familiar faces like actress/blogger Shiva Rose, Jayne Min of Stop It Right Now and Decades co-founders Cameron Silver and Christos Garkinos, just to name a few. Hint: it sort of has something to do with that mysterious photo shoot in Dallas.
As part of the line's whirlwind campaign—which, in addition to Dallas and LA, is also making stops in Miami, Chicago, Toronto and finally NYC—Target tapped a cast of each city's buzziest bloggers, industry insiders and top tastemakers to make cameos at the shoots. Among LA's top talent were Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere, Shareen Mitchell of Shareen Vintage, Mohawk General Store owner Bo Carney, film producer McG and more, all recruited by former Lucky mag editor Marlien Rentmeester of Le Catch. We're told the snaps will be stitched together for an interactive, mind-blowing cinemagraphic that'll be unveiled at the line's launch at NY Fashion Week on September 5th.
Oh, and get this: we also hear there will be no quantity restrictions online and in-stores when the collection hits stores next month. (What!?) So tell us, will you be lining up under the big red bullseye come September 15th?
