Kathy Rose sure is crafty. As the mastermind behind must-stop jewelry shop/gallery Roseark and a design star in her own right, everything the LA-based talent touches turns into eclectic gold. The latest object to get the KR treatment is a ginormous guitar for the 2013 installment of Gibson GuitarTown on Sunset.
Rose, along with a slew of other notables like Kat Von D, was tapped to dress a guitar that celebrates music and individuality. Set to go on auction in February in support of the Music for Relief fund, Rose tells us that her embellished creation was inspired by an Alanis Morissette tune: "The song 'Utopia' is about world peace, love, higher frequency, intelligence, purity, light, life, creating, unity and rising to a new consciousness of new dimensions," she explains.
Matching this laundry list of virtues is a crazy roster of global materials that bedazzle the instrument, including walrus teeth, sea urchin, cedar, black pearls, a hummingbird feather, diamonds, rose oil, water from Lithuania, turquoise, sage from an Aboriginal tribe and a whole lot more.
In addition to making an appearance on Sunset, Rose's magical guitar can soon be found at the Hornburg Showroom and, of course, Roseark.
