LA BREA— As the official start of summer is quickly approaching, Shelter Half is celebrating with two Surf Movie Nights. With wine in hand, guests will learn about the surf culture by watching classic Hollywood surf films and chatting with like-minded surfing enthusiasts. Hosted by Mindfulrider, the first viewing is tomorrow from 7 to 10pm at 161 S La Brea Ave, followed by a screening on Thursday, June 27 from 7 to 10pm. To bring the series to a close, a surf camp excursion will take place in the Malibu area next month, exact date TBD. [Racked Inbox]

DOWNTOWN— The JW Marriott LA Live's ION Rooftop Bar and Lounge at 900 W Olympic Blvd is hosting their first summer pop-up trunk show this Friday and Saturday from 1 to 5pm. Soak in the sun, get pampered with mini-spa treatments, enjoy hors d'oeuvres and sip on champagne while you look through poolside-perfect styles from Flora bella, Zoe NYC, Zeki Swimwear and handmade jewelry from local designer Amy Anderson. HERMOSA BEACH— With beach season in full effect, tone and tighten your bod at Shape Magazine's Summer Shape Up event led by health and fitness guru Jillian Michaels this Saturday, June 15 from 8am to 3pm at the Hermosa Beach Pier. The all-day seaside fitness fest will consist of a variety of classes. Take one or take them all. The price for a single class is $5. Tickets are selling out quick; nab them here.
